On view through January 14 （ Sun ） Noe Aoki, Pillar of Light

Fascinated by the material of iron, Noe Aoki has been creating works that are free from the inherent hardness and weight of the material, as well as the concept of sculpture ＝ as a mass.
Aoki, who has been interested in life and its workings, especially expressing water circulating in nature, the source of life, will present a new work at a lakeside museum. Water, darkness, light, and particles of smell and chemical particles ascend from the earth and descend from above--.
A pillar of light rises in the museum's 9-meter atrium space. AOKI Noe's world emerges, as if the organic-like steel works of hers are in response to the nature of the satoyama that envelops the museum.

Born in Tokyo in 1958. Lives and works in Saitama Prefecture. Completed graduate studies at Musashino Art University. Since the beginning of her career, she has been creating sculptures made of steel plates fused into parts, welded and joined together. Has created works in harmony with the nature and history of the region at art festivals such as Echigo-Tsumari ・ Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale and Setouchi International Art Festival. He has made it one of his lifeworks to interact with the places and people where he places his works, and has been publishing prints continuously since 1997. He received the Mainichi Art Award, the Nakahara Teijiro Award, and in 2021, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize.
